Choosing and Formatting Product Prices in Your Feed
Price requirements vary considerably between marketplaces, advertising platforms and external systems.
Deviking Product Feeds Pro provides multiple WooCommerce price sources, tax-aware price calculations, numeric adjustments, conditional pricing and output formatting so each feed can generate the price format required by its destination.
Standard WooCommerce Price Sources
The standard price sources are:
- Regular Price
- Sale Price
- Current Price
- Currency
Each source serves a different purpose.
Regular Price
Regular Price returns the normal WooCommerce product price.
For example:
Regular Price:
100.00If the product also has a Sale Price, the Regular Price source still returns the normal price.
This is useful when a destination requires both the original price and the promotional price.
Sale Price
Sale Price returns the WooCommerce sale price where one exists.
For example:
Regular Price:
100.00
Sale Price:
80.00The Sale Price source returns:
80.00If no Sale Price exists, the value may be empty.
A Fallback Source can be used when the field must always contain a value.
Current Price
Current Price returns the WooCommerce price currently applicable to the product.
For many general-purpose feeds, this is the most appropriate source for the active selling price.
Currency
The Currency source returns the store currency value.
It can be mapped to a separate feed field or used as part of Prefix / Suffix output where required.
For example:
Suffix:
{{source:currency}}can produce:
89.90 EURwhen the destination expects the amount and currency in one field.
Choosing Between Regular, Sale and Current Price
Use Regular Price when the destination specifically needs the normal product price.
Use Sale Price when the destination has a separate sale-price field.
Use Current Price when a single field should contain the currently applicable WooCommerce selling price.
Always follow the destination’s feed specification.
Using a Fallback Price Source
Fallback Source is useful when the preferred price may be empty.
For example:
Source:
Sale Price
Fallback Source:
Regular PriceThe feed uses Sale Price where available.
If Sale Price is empty, Regular Price is used.
Fallback resolution occurs before Numeric Modifier and Transform processing.
WooCommerce Tax-Aware Price Sources
Deviking Product Feeds Pro provides additional price sources when a destination requires a price explicitly including or excluding WooCommerce tax.
Prices Including Tax
Available sources are:
- Regular Price incl. tax
- Sale Price incl. tax
- Current Price incl. tax
Prices Excluding Tax
Available sources are:
- Regular Price excl. tax
- Sale Price excl. tax
- Current Price excl. tax
These values use WooCommerce tax calculations instead of applying a fixed tax percentage inside the feed.
Why Use Tax-Aware Price Sources?
A fixed calculation such as:
Price × 1.24assumes that every product uses the same tax treatment.
That may not be correct when your WooCommerce catalog contains different tax classes or tax configurations.
Tax-aware sources allow WooCommerce to determine the corresponding price based on the product’s tax setup.
Example: Export Current Price Including Tax
Suppose the destination requires the customer’s product price including WooCommerce tax.
Choose:
Source:
Current Price incl. taxYou can then apply Number Format if the destination requires a specific decimal format.
For example:
Decimals:
2
Decimal separator:
DotExample: Export Current Price Excluding Tax
If the platform instead requires a tax-exclusive amount, choose:
Source:
Current Price excl. taxNo manual VAT-removal calculation is required.
Regular and Sale Prices with Tax
Tax-aware sources are also available separately for Regular Price and Sale Price.
This means a feed can contain fields such as:
regular_price
sale_pricewhile both values follow the required tax treatment.
For example:
regular_price → Regular Price incl. tax
sale_price → Sale Price incl. taxor:
regular_price → Regular Price excl. tax
sale_price → Sale Price excl. taxTax-Aware Prices for Variations
When a variation is exported as its own feed record, tax-aware price sources resolve against that variation.
This allows different variations of the same variable product to export their individual calculated prices.
Adjusting Prices with Numeric Modifier
A Mapping row can modify the selected price before it is formatted.
Available Numeric Modifier operations include:
- Add fixed amount
- Subtract fixed amount
- Increase by percentage
- Decrease by percentage
- Multiply by
- Divide by
Example: Increase All Feed Prices by 5%
Configure:
Source:
Current Price
Numeric Modifier:
Increase by %
Value:
5A product with a Current Price of:
100.00produces:
105.00before any Number Format settings are applied.
Example: Apply a 10% Feed Discount
Configure:
Source:
Current Price
Numeric Modifier:
Decrease by %
Value:
10A price of:
100.00becomes:
90.00This changes only the feed value.
The WooCommerce product price is not modified.
Fixed Price Adjustments
Numeric Modifier can also add or subtract a fixed amount.
For example:
Source:
Current Price
Numeric Modifier:
Add fixed amount
Value:
5A value of:
49.90becomes:
54.90Multiplying and Dividing Prices
For integrations requiring mathematical conversion, Numeric Modifier also supports multiplication and division.
Example:
Source:
Current Price
Numeric Modifier:
Multiply by
Value:
1.10or:
Source:
Current Price
Numeric Modifier:
Divide by
Value:
1.24Use WooCommerce tax-aware price sources instead of manual tax calculations whenever the goal is specifically to obtain a WooCommerce price including or excluding tax.
Applying Numeric Modifier to Tax-Aware Prices
Tax-aware sources can be used directly with Numeric Modifier.
For example:
Source:
Current Price incl. tax
Numeric Modifier:
Increase by %
Value:
8The processing sequence is:
WooCommerce tax-aware price
→ 8% adjustment
→ formatting
→ feed outputConditional Pricing
If the same price adjustment should apply to every exported product, use Numeric Modifier directly in Mapping.
If the calculation should depend on product conditions, use a Dynamic Attribute.
For example:
IF Category contains Women
→ Current Price
→ Decrease by 10%IF Category contains Men
→ Current Price
→ Decrease by 20%ELSE
→ Current PriceThe resulting Dynamic Attribute can then be selected as the price source in Mapping.
Conditional Tax-Aware Pricing
A tax-aware price can also be used as the Base Source of a conditional Numeric Modifier.
For example:
IF Category contains Promotion
Base Source:
Current Price incl. tax
Operation:
Decrease by %
Value:
15Only matching products receive the calculated feed price.
Formatting Prices with Number Format
After the price has been resolved and any Numeric Modifier has been applied, use the Number Format Transform to control how it is written.
Available options include:
- 0–8 decimal places
- Decimal separator: dot or comma
- Thousands separator:
- None
- Dot
- Comma
- Space
- Remove trailing zeros
- Live preview
Example: Two Decimal Places
Original value:
89.9With:
Decimals:
2the output becomes:
89.90Example: European Formatting
Configure:
Decimals:
2
Decimal separator:
Comma
Thousands separator:
DotA value of:
1234.5can be written as:
1.234,50Example: Marketplace Price with Currency
Suppose a destination requires:
89.90 EURYou could configure:
Source:
Current Price incl. tax
Transform:
Number Format
Decimals:
2
Suffix:
{{source:currency}}The currency is appended after the formatted price.
If the destination requires price and currency in separate fields, map Currency separately instead.
Price Processing Order
The Mapping pipeline is:
Source
→ Fallback Source
→ Numeric Modifier
→ Transform
→ Prefix / Suffix
→ Feed OutputFor example:
Source:
Current Price incl. tax
Numeric Modifier:
Decrease by 10%
Transform:
Number Format
Decimals:
2
Suffix:
{{source:currency}}The system:
- Resolves Current Price incl. tax.
- Applies the 10% reduction.
- Formats the result to two decimal places.
- Adds the currency suffix.
- Writes the final value to the feed.
Numeric Modifier vs Number Format
These features have different purposes.
Numeric Modifier changes the actual numeric value.
100
→ decrease by 10%
→ 90Number Format changes only its presentation.
90
→ two decimals
→ 90.00They can be used together:
100
→ decrease by 10%
→ 90
→ format to two decimals
→ 90.00Price Changes Affect Only the Feed
Numeric Modifiers and Dynamic Attribute price calculations do not update WooCommerce product data.
They do not change:
- Regular Price
- Sale Price
- Storefront price
- Cart price
- Checkout price
- Existing orders
The calculated value exists only in the generated feed.
This makes the feature suitable for marketplace-specific pricing strategies.
Example: Complete Marketplace Price Configuration
Suppose a marketplace requires:
- Current WooCommerce price including tax
- An additional 8% marketplace margin
- Two decimal places
- Dot decimal separator
- No thousands separator
- Currency appended
Configure:
Source:
Current Price incl. tax
Numeric Modifier:
Increase by %
Value:
8
Transform:
Number Format
Decimals:
2
Decimal separator:
Dot
Thousands separator:
None
Suffix:
{{source:currency}}The resulting pipeline is:
WooCommerce Current Price incl. tax
→ Increase by 8%
→ Format to 2 decimals
→ Append currency
→ Final marketplace valueBest Practices
Use Current Price when the destination requires the currently applicable WooCommerce selling price.
Use Regular Price and Sale Price separately when the destination supports dedicated original and promotional price fields.
Use the incl. tax or excl. tax sources when the platform explicitly defines the required tax treatment.
Prefer WooCommerce tax-aware sources over manually adding or removing VAT.
Use Numeric Modifier for actual price calculations.
Use Number Format for decimal and thousands formatting.
Use Dynamic Attributes for conditional discounts, margins or other pricing rules.
Use a Fallback Source when the selected price may legitimately be empty.
Always verify the destination’s pricing specification before deciding which price source and tax treatment to export.
