Deviking Product feeds Pro

Selecting Which Product Variations to Export

WooCommerce variable products can contain many individual variations, each representing a different combination of options such as size, color, material, or other attributes.

Deviking Product Feeds Pro gives you precise control over which WooCommerce product types are included in each feed through the Product & Variation Mode setting.

This allows one feed to contain only parent products, another to contain only variations, and another to include the complete catalog.

Where to Configure Variation Mode

Open an existing feed from:

Deviking Feeds → Feeds

or create a new feed from:

Deviking Feeds → Add Feed

Then open the Variations section and locate:

Product & Variation Mode

The selected mode determines which WooCommerce objects become individual records in the generated XML or CSV file.

Available Product & Variation Modes

Deviking Product Feeds provides six different modes:

All Products + Variations — Include Variable Parents

Exports:

  • simple products;
  • variable parent products;
  • variations.

All Products + Variations — Exclude Variable Parents

Exports:

  • simple products;
  • variations.

Variable parent records are not included.

Simple Products Only

Exports only simple WooCommerce products.

Variable Parents Only

Exports only variable parent products.

Variations Only

Exports only individual variation records.

Variable Parents + Variations

Exports variable parent products and their variations, while unrelated simple products are excluded.

Example Product Catalog

Suppose your WooCommerce store contains:

Hoodie
(Simple Product)

T-Shirt
(Variable Product)

├── T-Shirt - Blue / Small
├── T-Shirt - Blue / Medium
└── T-Shirt - Red / Small

This catalog contains:

1 Simple Product
1 Variable Parent
3 Variations

The selected Product & Variation Mode determines which of these records appear in the feed.

All Products + Variations — Include Variable Parents

This is the most complete export mode.

The resulting feed contains:

Hoodie
T-Shirt
T-Shirt - Blue / Small
T-Shirt - Blue / Medium
T-Shirt - Red / Small

Total:

5 records

Use this mode when the destination should receive:

  • normal simple products;
  • variable parent products;
  • every variation as an individual record.

Keep in mind that the variable parent and its variations will all appear separately.

All Products + Variations — Exclude Variable Parents

This mode keeps normal simple products and individual variations but removes variable parent records.

Using the same catalog:

Hoodie
T-Shirt - Blue / Small
T-Shirt - Blue / Medium
T-Shirt - Red / Small

Total:

4 records

The parent:

T-Shirt

is not exported.

This is particularly useful for channels that require every purchasable variation separately but do not want an additional non-purchasable parent entry.

Simple Products Only

This mode exports only WooCommerce simple products.

Result:

Hoodie

Total:

1 record

The variable product and all its variations are excluded.

Use this mode when you specifically need a feed containing only standalone simple products.

Variable Parents Only

This mode exports only the variable parent products.

Result:

T-Shirt

Total:

1 record

The following are excluded:

Hoodie
T-Shirt - Blue / Small
T-Shirt - Blue / Medium
T-Shirt - Red / Small

This mode is useful when the destination expects one entry for each variable product rather than individual purchasable variations.

Variations Only

This mode exports only individual WooCommerce variations.

Result:

T-Shirt - Blue / Small
T-Shirt - Blue / Medium
T-Shirt - Red / Small

Total:

3 records

Both:

Hoodie
T-Shirt

are excluded.

This is useful when creating a dedicated variation feed where every exported record represents one specific product combination.

Variable Parents + Variations

This mode exports variable parents together with their variations but excludes unrelated simple products.

Result:

T-Shirt
T-Shirt - Blue / Small
T-Shirt - Blue / Medium
T-Shirt - Red / Small

Total:

4 records

The simple product:

Hoodie

is excluded.

This mode is useful when you specifically need variable-product data without mixing unrelated simple products into the feed.

Quick Comparison

Using our example catalog:

ModeHoodieT-Shirt ParentVariations
All Products + Variations — Include Parents✓✓✓
All Products + Variations — Exclude Parents✓—✓
Simple Products Only✓——
Variable Parents Only—✓—

Variable Parents + Variations—✓✓

This makes it possible to create very different feeds from the same WooCommerce catalog without changing the products themselves.

Variation Values

When variations are exported, they are processed as individual feed records.

This means each variation can provide its own values for fields such as:

SKU
Regular Price
Sale Price
Current Price
Stock Quantity
Stock Status
Weight
Dimensions
Color
Size
Image

For example:

T-Shirt - Blue / Small
SKU: TS-BLU-S
Price: 24.90
Stock: 8

and:

T-Shirt - Red / Small
SKU: TS-RED-S
Price: 29.90
Stock: 3

can appear independently in the generated feed.

Example Variation XML

With Variations Only, the output could look like:

<products>

    <product>
        <sku>TS-BLU-S</sku>
        <title>T-Shirt</title>
        <color>Blue</color>
        <size>Small</size>
        <price>24.90</price>
        <quantity>8</quantity>
    </product>

    <product>
        <sku>TS-RED-S</sku>
        <title>T-Shirt</title>
        <color>Red</color>
        <size>Small</size>
        <price>29.90</price>
        <quantity>3</quantity>
    </product>

</products>

Each variation is a separate <product> record.

Example Variation CSV

The same feed in CSV could contain:

sku,title,color,size,price,quantity
TS-BLU-S,"T-Shirt","Blue","Small",24.90,8
TS-BLU-M,"T-Shirt","Blue","Medium",24.90,4
TS-RED-S,"T-Shirt","Red","Small",29.90,3

Using Parent Information with Variations

A variation does not always contain every piece of product information.

For example, the parent may contain:

Title
Description
Brand
Categories
Gallery

while the variation contains:

SKU
Price
Stock
Color
Size

Deviking Product Feeds lets a variation retrieve values from its parent using:

parent:<source>

For example:

parent:description

or:

parent:image

This lets an exported variation combine its own price and inventory data with shared information stored on the variable parent.

Product Titles for Variations

When the current record is a variation, the standard:

Name / Title

source returns the parent product title.

For example:

T-Shirt

If you need WooCommerce’s full variation-specific name instead, use:

Variation Name / Title

which can return a value such as:

T-Shirt - Blue, Small

This lets you choose how variations should be named in the feed.

Variation Images

When Featured Image URL is used:

Variation has its own image
→ Variation image is exported

Variation has no image
→ Parent featured image is used

This fallback behavior is handled automatically by Deviking Product Feeds.

Filtering Individual Variations

Variation records can also be filtered using the same feed filtering system.

For example, you can remove variations where:

Stock Status = outofstock

or:

Current Price <= 0

or:

Color = Red

This allows one variation of a parent product to remain in the feed while another variation is excluded.

For example:

T-Shirt - Blue / Small → Included
T-Shirt - Blue / Medium → Included
T-Shirt - Red / Small → Excluded

The parent product itself does not need to be removed simply because one variation fails a condition.

Choosing the Right Mode

For a marketplace that expects every sellable variation as a separate product while also accepting simple products, a common choice is:

All Products + Variations — Exclude Variable Parents

For a feed dedicated exclusively to variations:

Variations Only

For a destination that expects one entry per variable parent:

Variable Parents Only

For a complete catalog containing every available object type:

All Products + Variations — Include Variable Parents

The correct mode ultimately depends on the product structure required by the destination receiving the feed.

Check the Record Count

The number of records in a feed can be significantly larger than the number of products displayed in the WooCommerce Products screen.

For example, a store with:

1,000 parent products
4 variations per variable product

may generate several thousand feed records when variations are exported individually.

This is expected because every variation can become its own feed record.

Preview Before Generating

After selecting a Product & Variation Mode, use Preview.

Check a few variable products and make sure:

  • simple products appear or are excluded as expected;
  • variable parents appear only when required;
  • individual variations appear as separate records;
  • variation SKUs are correct;
  • price and inventory belong to the correct variation;
  • parent values are inherited correctly;
  • variation attributes such as size and color contain the expected values.

When the structure is correct, click:

Save & Generate

to rebuild the complete feed.

Example Workflow

For a marketplace requiring one row for every sellable simple product and variation:

Product & Variation Mode:
All Products + Variations — Exclude Variable Parents

Then map:

ID           → ID
SKU          → SKU
Title        → Name / Title
Price        → Current Price
Quantity     → Stock Quantity
Availability → Stock Status
Image        → Featured Image URL
Color        → Color Attribute
Size         → Size Attribute

Finally:

Preview → Validate Feed → Save & Generate

This gives you direct control over exactly which WooCommerce product and variation records are sent to each destination.
