Deviking Product feeds Pro

Adding Product Images and Galleries to Your Feed

Product images are an important part of most marketplace and advertising feeds.

Deviking Product Feeds Pro lets you export a product’s featured image, gallery images, or all available product images through the normal Attribute Mapping system.

The available built-in image sources are:

  • Featured Image URL
  • Gallery Image URLs
  • All Product Image URLs

Add a Main Product Image

Open the feed from:

Deviking Feeds → Feeds

and go to the Mapping section.

Add a mapping row such as:

Output Field: image_link
Source: Featured Image URL

For XML, the result could be:

<image_link>https://example.com/wp-content/uploads/product.jpg</image_link>

For CSV:

sku,title,image_link
ABC-123,"Example Product","https://example.com/wp-content/uploads/product.jpg"

The output field name can be changed to whatever the destination requires.

For example:

image
image_link
image_url
main_image

Featured Image URL

Featured Image URL returns the product’s primary WooCommerce image.

For a simple product:

Product:
Running Shoes

Featured Image:
https://example.com/uploads/running-shoes.jpg

the feed can output:

<image>https://example.com/uploads/running-shoes.jpg</image>

Images for Product Variations

Image handling is variation-aware.

When an exported variation has its own image, Featured Image URL uses that variation image.

If the variation does not have its own image, Deviking Product Feeds automatically falls back to the featured image of the parent variable product.

For example:

Premium T-Shirt
Parent Image: tshirt.jpg

Black / Small
Image: tshirt-black.jpg

White / Small
Image: none

The generated values become:

Black / Small
→ tshirt-black.jpg

White / Small
→ tshirt.jpg

This allows variation feeds to contain valid product images without requiring every variation to have its own image.

Gallery Image URLs

Use:

Gallery Image URLs

when you need images from the WooCommerce product gallery.

This source returns multiple image URLs when multiple gallery images are assigned to the product. Gallery images are one of the array-valued sources supported by Product Feeds.

For example, a product could contain:

Featured Image:
product-main.jpg

Gallery:
product-side.jpg
product-back.jpg
product-detail.jpg

Using Gallery Image URLs gives you access to the gallery images independently of the featured image.

All Product Image URLs

Use:

All Product Image URLs

when you want the complete set of product images.

This source combines the featured image with gallery images and removes duplicate URLs. For variations, it can also use the parent product’s image/gallery data when necessary.

For example:

Featured:
product-main.jpg

Gallery:
product-side.jpg
product-back.jpg

All Product Image URLs resolves to the complete image collection:

product-main.jpg
product-side.jpg
product-back.jpg

This is especially useful for XML feeds that require multiple image elements.

Export Multiple Images as Repeated XML Elements

XML feeds can output array-based sources as repeated elements.

Suppose the destination requires:

<images>
    <image>https://example.com/image-1.jpg</image>
    <image>https://example.com/image-2.jpg</image>
    <image>https://example.com/image-3.jpg</image>
</images>

Configure the mapping row as:

Output Field / Path:
images/image

Source:
All Product Image URLs

Repeat:
Enabled

Deviking Product Feeds creates the parent <images> container automatically and writes one <image> element for every available image URL.

Example XML Image Structure

A complete product record could look like:

<product>
    <sku>ABC-123</sku>
    <title>Premium Running Shoes</title>

    <images>
        <image>https://example.com/uploads/shoes-main.jpg</image>
        <image>https://example.com/uploads/shoes-side.jpg</image>
        <image>https://example.com/uploads/shoes-back.jpg</image>
    </images>
</product>

This configuration uses:

Output Field / Path: images/image
Source: All Product Image URLs
Repeat: Enabled

What Happens When Repeat Is Disabled?

Some Product Feeds sources return multiple values.

When an array-valued source is used in XML without Repeat, the values are combined into a single value using a comma and a space.

For example:

<images>image-1.jpg, image-2.jpg, image-3.jpg</images>

Whether you should use a combined value or repeated elements depends on the feed specification of the destination.

For structured XML feeds, repeated image elements are often easier for external systems to process.

Use a Separate Main Image and Additional Images

Some feed specifications require the primary image separately from the additional images.

For example:

<image_link>https://example.com/main.jpg</image_link>
<additional_images>
    <image>https://example.com/gallery-1.jpg</image>
    <image>https://example.com/gallery-2.jpg</image>
</additional_images>

You can create two mapping rows:

Output Field:
image_link

Source:
Featured Image URL

and:

Output Field / Path:
additional_images/image

Source:
Gallery Image URLs

Repeat:
Enabled

Because Gallery Image URLs and All Product Image URLs return multiple values, they can be used with XML Repeat to create individual image elements.

Adding XML Attributes to Images

Advanced XML feeds may require attributes on image elements.

For example:

<image role="product">https://example.com/featured.jpg</image>

Product Feeds allows XML attributes to be configured on individual mapping rows.

A configuration could use:

Output Field / Path:
images/image

Source:
All Product Image URLs

Repeat:
Enabled

XML Attributes:
role=product

and generate:

<images>
    <image role="product">https://example.com/featured.jpg</image>
    <image role="product">https://example.com/gallery-1.jpg</image>
</images>

This exact repeated-image structure is supported by the Product Feeds XML mapping system.

Using the Parent Image Explicitly

Sometimes you may want every variation to use the parent product image even when the variation has its own image.

Deviking Product Feeds supports parent sources using:

parent:<source>

For example, a parent-level image source can be used when the feed specification requires all variations to share the same primary image.

The parent: source system resolves the selected source from the variable parent instead of the current variation.

Example Variation Image Feed

Consider this variable product:

Premium Hoodie
Parent image:
hoodie-main.jpg

Black / Small:
hoodie-black.jpg

Black / Medium:
hoodie-black.jpg

Grey / Small:
hoodie-grey.jpg

A variation-based feed can produce:

<product>
    <sku>HOOD-BLK-S</sku>
    <image>https://example.com/hoodie-black.jpg</image>
</product>

<product>
    <sku>HOOD-BLK-M</sku>
    <image>https://example.com/hoodie-black.jpg</image>
</product>

<product>
    <sku>HOOD-GRY-S</sku>
    <image>https://example.com/hoodie-grey.jpg</image>
</product>

If a variation has no image, Featured Image URL automatically falls back to the parent featured image.

Images in CSV Feeds

Image sources can also be used as normal columns in CSV feeds.

For example:

image_link → Featured Image URL

can produce:

sku,title,image_link
ABC-123,"Running Shoes","https://example.com/uploads/running-shoes.jpg"

If a marketplace needs additional images, check its specification to determine whether it expects:

one field containing multiple URLs

or:

separate image fields

Then build the mapping structure required by that destination.

Using Marketplace Templates

Ready-made feed templates may already contain the main image field required by the destination.

For example, a template may include:

image_link

mapped to:

Featured Image URL

The Product Feeds manual uses this exact mapping in its basic XML example.

You can keep the default mapping or change the source when your feed requires a different image strategy.

Empty Images

If a product has no usable image, the mapped image value may be empty.

For XML feeds, empty final mapping values are automatically omitted instead of producing unnecessary empty elements.

Instead of:

<image></image>

the field is simply not written.

Before submitting a feed to a marketplace that requires product images, use Preview to identify products without valid image URLs.

Preview Your Image Output

Before generating the full feed, use Preview and inspect several product types:

  • simple products;
  • products with galleries;
  • variable products;
  • variations with their own images;
  • variations without their own images;
  • products containing several gallery images.

Verify that the main image and additional images are coming from the intended WooCommerce source.

Recommended Image Mappings

For a simple feed requiring one primary image:

image_link
→ Featured Image URL

For an XML feed requiring all images:

images/image
→ All Product Image URLs
→ Repeat: Enabled

For a feed requiring the main image separately from gallery images:

image_link
→ Featured Image URL

additional_images/image
→ Gallery Image URLs
→ Repeat: Enabled

This gives you control over both the primary product image and the complete WooCommerce image gallery without modifying the product itself.
