Getting Started with Checkout Fields
Checkout Fields is a WooCommerce checkout-field manager. It lets you change native WooCommerce fields, create custom fields, reorder them, apply display rules, add conditional logic, configure VAT / Tax Number validation, add field-based fees, control where saved values appear after checkout, and reuse field values with shortcodes.
What the plugin changes
Native WooCommerce fields remain connected to WooCommerce customer, address, shipping, payment, and tax logic. Custom fields are added alongside them and saved with the order under their own field keys.
Recommended first setup
- Review the existing Billing and Shipping fields before creating new ones.
- Decide which native fields must remain required, which can be optional, and which can be disabled safely.
- Add custom fields one at a time and test each field before building a large checkout form.
- Place a test order and verify the field value in the WooCommerce order.
- If output is enabled, confirm the value on the Thank you page, My Account, customer emails, admin emails, and any email-builder integration you use.
- Test the checkout on desktop and mobile before publishing the final configuration.
Why complete testing matters
A checkout field can be used by more than the visible checkout form. Payment gateways, shipping methods, tax calculation, customer accounts, address validation, and third-party extensions may depend on native WooCommerce fields.
