Deviking Post Expiration

Getting Started with Deviking Post Expiration

What Deviking Post Expiration Does

Deviking Post Expiration lets you schedule an automatic action for WordPress content at a specific date and time. Instead of returning later to unpublish, hide, trash, or redirect temporary content manually, you can configure the expiration once and let the plugin process it automatically.

Supported expiration actions

Each supported content item can use one of the following actions:

  • Move to Draft — removes the content from public view while keeping it available for editing.
  • Set as Private — changes the WordPress status to Private.
  • Move to Trash — sends the item to the normal WordPress Trash.
  • Redirect visitors — keeps the content available internally while redirecting frontend visitors after expiration.

Where expiration can be used

The plugin supports standard WordPress Posts and Pages. It can also work with compatible public Custom Post Types. You decide which post types should display expiration controls from the main Post Expiration settings page.

How the workflow works

  1. Enable expiration for a content item.
  2. Choose the expiration date and time.
  3. Select the action that should run.
  4. Save or update the content.
  5. The plugin schedules a WordPress event for that item.
  6. When the configured time arrives, the selected expiration action runs automatically.

Deviking Post Expiration also includes a fallback sweep for overdue events. This provides an additional safety layer when a WordPress scheduled event does not run exactly when expected.
