Deviking Post Expiration

How Deviking Post Expiration Uses WP-Cron

Single scheduled event per item

When you save a future expiration date, Deviking Post Expiration schedules a single WordPress event for that specific content item.

When the event runs

At or after the configured timestamp, WordPress runs the plugin expiration callback. The plugin verifies that expiration is still enabled and that the timestamp is due before performing the action.

Rescheduling

When you change an expiration date or time, the plugin removes previous expiration events for that item before scheduling the new one.

WP-Cron timing behavior

WordPress WP-Cron is traffic-driven on many sites. This means an event can run slightly after its exact scheduled second if the site receives no request at that moment.

For this reason, Deviking Post Expiration also includes a separate fallback sweep for overdue expiration schedules.
