Deviking Post Expiration

Move Expired Content to Trash

What Move to Trash does

When the expiration timestamp is reached, the plugin uses the normal WordPress Trash process for the content item.

Trash is not immediate permanent deletion

Moving an item to Trash does not normally erase it from the database instantly. WordPress keeps trashed content according to its standard Trash behavior, allowing it to be restored while it remains available.

When to use this action

  • Disposable temporary pages
  • Old notices with no future editorial value
  • Short-lived test content
  • Campaign content that should enter the site’s normal cleanup workflow

Use with care

If content has SEO value, backlinks, or an important URL, consider Redirect visitors instead. Sending a valuable URL to Trash without a redirect may create a poor visitor experience after expiration.
