Understanding Global Defaults and Per-Post Settings
Global settings provide defaults
The main Post Expiration settings page controls availability and default values. It does not create expiration schedules automatically.
Per-post settings control the actual schedule
Each content item stores its own:
- Enabled or disabled expiration state
- Expiration timestamp
- Expiration action
- Redirect type when applicable
- Custom redirect URL when applicable
- Existing content redirect target when applicable
- Expired state after processing
Example
You may configure Move to Draft as the global default action. Post A can use that default, while Post B can use Set as Private and Page C can use Redirect visitors. Changing the global default later does not mean every existing item must use the new value.
This structure gives administrators useful defaults without removing item-level control.
