Redirect Visitors After Expiration

How Redirect visitors works

The Redirect visitors action behaves differently from Draft, Private, and Trash. The plugin marks the content as expired, but the action does not need to change the underlying WordPress post status.

Frontend behavior

When a visitor opens the expired singular content URL, Deviking Post Expiration checks whether the item is marked expired and whether its action is Redirect visitors. If both conditions are true, the plugin sends the visitor to the configured destination.

Destination options

• Custom URL
• Existing content selected from supported published items

Redirect status

You can use either 301 Permanent or 302 Temporary.

Use cases

• Expired landing page → current campaign page
• Old event page → event archive
• Temporary announcement → main information page
• Seasonal content → evergreen replacement
