Deviking Post Expiration

301 Permanent vs 302 Temporary Redirects

301 Permanent

A 301 Permanent redirect tells browsers and search engines that the original resource has permanently moved to a new location.

Typical use:

  • An old campaign page has been permanently replaced.
  • An event URL should permanently point to a new evergreen page.
  • The original expired page will not return.

302 Temporary

A 302 Temporary redirect indicates that the redirect is temporary.

Typical use:

  • The original content may return later.
  • You are temporarily sending visitors to another page.
  • You do not want to signal a permanent move.

Default redirect type

When no valid saved redirect type is available, Deviking Post Expiration falls back to 302.

Choose the redirect code according to your content strategy rather than using 301 for every expired URL automatically.
