Deviking Post Expiration

Expiration Timing on Low-Traffic Websites

WP-Cron is not a continuous background service

On many WordPress installations, WP-Cron checks for due events when the site receives requests. A site with very little traffic may therefore process a scheduled event after its exact configured time.

What this means for expiration

A post scheduled to expire at 14:00 may remain available briefly if WordPress does not run scheduled tasks at that exact time.

Fallback protection

Deviking Post Expiration includes an overdue-event sweep, but that process also relies on WordPress cron execution.

For strict timing requirements

If your website requires very precise scheduled execution, configure a real server cron job to trigger WordPress cron regularly according to your hosting environment. This is a WordPress infrastructure configuration rather than a Deviking Post Expiration setting.

Always test scheduled behavior on the production hosting environment before relying on exact timing for critical content.
