Creating Your First Print Rule

Print Rules control when an order should be printed automatically, what should be printed, and which printer should receive it.

A Print Rule is mainly used for automatic printing workflows. Manual printing can still be used without creating an automatic rule.

1. Open Print Rules

In your WordPress dashboard, go to:

Deviking Order Autoprint → Print Rules

This page displays all configured printing rules.

Click:

Add New Rule

2. Enter a Rule Name

Give the rule a clear name that describes its purpose.

Examples:

  • Warehouse Orders
  • Processing Orders
  • Kitchen Tickets
  • Packing Lists
  • Cash on Delivery Orders
  • Greece Orders

The rule name is used only for administration and does not appear on the printed document unless you explicitly include it.

3. Enable the Rule

Make sure the rule is enabled if you want WooCommerce orders to be processed automatically by it.

A disabled rule remains saved but does not create automatic print jobs.

4. Select the Order Trigger

Choose the WooCommerce order status that should trigger the rule.

For example:

Processing

When an order reaches the selected status, Deviking Order Autoprint checks whether the order matches the rest of the rule conditions.

You can configure the rule for the order statuses required by your workflow.

5. Add Conditions

Conditions allow you to control which orders should use the rule.

Available conditions can include:

  • Payment method
  • Shipping method
  • Product category
  • Shipping country
  • Shipping state / region
  • Minimum order total
  • Maximum order total

You only need to configure the conditions relevant to your workflow.

For example, a rule could print only:

Processing orders + Cash on Delivery + Greece

Or:

Processing orders containing products from a specific category

6. Select the Device and Printer

Choose the connected Device that should receive the print job.

Then select one of the printers reported by that Device.

Example:

Device: Warehouse PC
Printer: HP LaserJet Professional P1102

The selected Agent must be running and able to access the printer.

7. Choose the Print Format

Select the paper format required by the printer:

  • A4
  • A5
  • 80mm Thermal
  • 58mm Thermal

Different Print Rules can use different paper formats.

For example, one rule can print an A4 packing list while another sends a kitchen ticket to an 80mm thermal printer.

8. Select a Template

Choose the document type that should be generated.

Available templates include:

  • Standard Order
  • Customer Receipt
  • Packing List
  • Delivery Note
  • Kitchen Ticket

Choose the template that best matches the purpose of the rule.

9. Configure the Document

Customize the content of the printed document.

Depending on the template, you can configure sections such as:

  • Header
  • Customer information
  • Products
  • Totals
  • Notes
  • Custom Text
  • Footer

You can also control which fields are displayed and the order of the document sections.

10. Configure Branding

Each Print Rule can have its own branding.

Available options include:

  • Logo
  • Business name
  • Address
  • Phone
  • Email
  • Footer text
  • Logo size
  • Logo alignment

This is useful when different rules require different document layouts or branding.

11. Configure Printer Settings

Depending on the selected printer and format, additional settings may be available, including:

  • Copies
  • Orientation
  • Margins
  • Thermal paper width
  • Auto-cut
  • RAW ESC/POS mode

Thermal-specific options are intended for compatible thermal printers.

12. Optional Fallback Printer

You can configure a fallback printer for important workflows.

If the primary Agent or printer remains unavailable for the configured period, the job can be redirected to the fallback destination.

This is useful for warehouses, kitchens or other environments where printing should continue even if one printer becomes unavailable.

13. Save the Rule

Click:

Save Rule

The rule is now ready.

When an order reaches the configured status and matches the rule conditions, Deviking Order Autoprint automatically creates a print job and sends it to the selected printer.

Example

A simple first rule could be:

Rule Name: Processing Orders
Trigger: Processing
Device: Warehouse PC
Printer: HP LaserJet
Format: A4
Template: Standard Order
Copies: 1

With no additional conditions, matching Processing orders can be sent automatically to that printer.
