Changing Rule Priority and Order

Each Print Rule has a Priority value that determines the order in which enabled rules are evaluated when a WooCommerce order changes status.

Rules with a lower Priority number are processed first.

1. Open the Print Rule

In your WordPress dashboard, go to:

Deviking Order Autoprint → Print Rules

Edit the rule whose priority you want to change.

2. Locate the Priority Setting

Find:

Priority

The default value is typically:

10

You can replace it with another number.

3. Lower Numbers Run First

Priority works in ascending order.

For example:

Priority 5
runs before

Priority 10

which runs before

Priority 20

So a lower number gives the rule an earlier position in the evaluation order.

4. Example

You might configure:

Priority 5
Kitchen Orders

Priority 10
Warehouse Orders

Priority 20
General Orders

When an order status changes, the Kitchen rule is evaluated first, followed by Warehouse and then General Orders.

5. Priority Does Not Make Rules Exclusive

Priority controls the order of evaluation.

It does not automatically stop other matching rules from running.

If the same order matches several enabled rules, each matching rule can create its own print job.

For example:

Priority 5
Food category → Kitchen Printer

Priority 10
All Processing orders → Warehouse Printer

An order containing Food products may match both rules and print to both locations.

6. Avoid Unintended Duplicate Printing

If only one rule should print an order, configure the rule conditions carefully rather than relying only on Priority.

Review:

  • Payment method
  • Shipping method
  • Product category
  • Shipping country
  • Shipping state / region
  • Order total

to make each workflow as specific as required.

7. Rules with the Same Priority

If two rules have the same Priority value, Deviking Order Autoprint uses their internal creation order to determine which is evaluated first.

For most workflows, it is clearer to give important rules distinct Priority values.

8. Recommended Priority Values

Using intervals makes future changes easier.

For example:

  • Priority 10
  • Priority 20
  • Priority 30
  • Priority 40

If you later need to insert another rule between 10 and 20, you can use:

Priority 15

without changing every existing rule.

9. View Priority in the Rules List

The Print Rules screen displays the Priority value for each rule.

Rules are listed according to their configured priority, making it easier to understand the processing order.

10. Save the Rule

After changing the Priority, click:

Save Rule

The new evaluation order will apply to future matching order events.
