Checking for Agent Updates

The Deviking Print Agent includes its own update system so the Windows application can be kept up to date independently from the WordPress plugin.

1. Open Deviking Print Agent

Open:

Deviking Print Agent

on the Windows computer.

2. Check for Updates Manually

Click:

Check for updates

The Agent checks whether a newer version is available.

If no newer version is available, the Agent will confirm that the current installation is up to date.

3. Automatic Agent Updates

The Agent can also check for updates automatically.

Enable:

Automatically install Agent updates

When enabled, the Agent periodically checks for a newer release in the background.

4. What Happens When an Update Is Available

When a newer Agent version is available, the Agent downloads the official installer.

Before installation, the downloaded file is verified using its SHA-256 checksum.

This helps ensure that the downloaded installer matches the published release.

5. Installing the Update

After verification, the Agent launches the new installer.

The update process replaces the installed Agent with the newer version.

Your existing site connections and local Agent configuration are preserved.

You do not need to pair your WooCommerce sites again after a normal Agent update.

6. Agent and Plugin Updates Are Separate

The Windows Agent and the WordPress plugin use separate update systems.

WordPress plugin updates are handled through WordPress.

Print Agent updates are handled by the Windows Agent itself.

Updating one does not automatically update the other.

7. Checking the Installed Version

The currently installed Agent version is displayed inside the Deviking Print Agent.

It is also reported to WordPress and can be viewed under:

Deviking Order Autoprint → Devices

8. Update Available Indicator

If WordPress detects that a newer Agent version is available, the Device may display:

Update available

You can then open the Agent on that Windows computer and run:

Check for updates

9. Recommended Setting

For computers used for unattended automatic printing, keeping automatic Agent updates enabled is recommended.

This helps ensure the Agent receives:

• Bug fixes
• Compatibility improvements
• Reliability improvements
• New Agent features
