Duplicating a Print Rule
Duplicating a Print Rule is useful when you want to create a new rule based on an existing configuration without rebuilding everything from the beginning.
The duplicate keeps the original rule settings so you can modify only the differences.
1. Open Print Rules
In your WordPress dashboard, go to:
Deviking Order Autoprint → Print Rules
Find the rule you want to copy.
2. Click Duplicate
Use the available rule action:
Duplicate Rule
A new rule will be created using the configuration of the original rule.
3. What Is Copied
The duplicate includes the existing rule configuration, such as:
- Order status trigger
- Conditions
- Device
- Printer
- Template
- Paper format
- Copies
- Printer settings
- Layout sections
- Visible fields
- Branding
- Custom text
- Footer
- Fallback printer settings
This makes duplication especially useful for similar workflows.
4. The Duplicated Rule Is Disabled by Default
The new duplicated rule is created as:
Disabled
This prevents it from immediately creating additional print jobs before you have reviewed and modified it.
Edit the duplicate first, then enable it when it is ready.
5. Rename the Duplicate
Give the duplicated rule a clear name.
For example, if the original rule is:
Warehouse Packing List
you could duplicate it and rename the copy to:
Express Warehouse Packing List
6. Modify Only What Is Different
After duplication, change only the settings required for the new workflow.
For example:
Original Rule
- Processing
- Standard Shipping
- Warehouse Printer
Duplicated Rule
- Processing
- Express Shipping
- Priority Warehouse Printer
The template, branding and layout can remain the same.
7. Useful Duplication Examples
Duplicating rules is useful when creating:
- Similar rules for different printers
- Rules for different shipping methods
- Rules for different countries or regions
- A4 and thermal versions of the same document
- Separate rules for different product categories
- Similar workflows for different departments
8. Review Conditions Carefully
Before enabling the duplicated rule, review all conditions.
Because the duplicate keeps the original settings, it may otherwise overlap with the original rule.
This could cause the same order to create more than one print job.
9. Enable the New Rule
When the duplicate is configured correctly, enable it and save your changes.
It will then participate in automatic printing independently from the original rule.
