Deviking Order Autoprint

Managing Printers Reported by a Device

Each Deviking Print Agent automatically reports the printers currently installed and available on its Windows computer.

These printers are then shown inside the Devices screen and can be selected in Print Rules and manual print actions.

1. Open Devices

In your WordPress dashboard, go to:

Deviking Order Autoprint → Devices

Find the Device whose printers you want to review.

2. View Reported Printers

The Device lists the printers detected by the Agent.

For each printer, you can see information such as:

  • Printer name
  • Availability status
  • Whether the printer is currently usable by Windows

The printer name comes directly from Windows.

3. Where the Printer List Comes From

Deviking Order Autoprint does not install printer drivers itself.

The Agent reads the printers already installed in Windows.

If a printer is available in Windows, the Agent can report it to WooCommerce.

4. Adding a New Printer

To add a new printer to a Device:

  1. Install the printer in Windows
  2. Confirm that Windows can print to it
  3. Make sure the Deviking Print Agent is running
  4. Wait for the Agent to report its updated printer list

The new printer should then appear automatically under the Device.

5. Removing a Printer

If a printer is removed from Windows, the Agent will stop reporting it as available.

Before removing a printer, check whether it is currently used by any Print Rules.

If necessary, update those rules and assign another printer.

6. Printer Status

A reported printer may appear available or unavailable depending on its current Windows state.

A printer may become unavailable because:

  • It is powered off
  • The USB cable is disconnected
  • The network connection is unavailable
  • Windows reports the printer as offline
  • The printer driver has a problem
  • The printer has been removed from Windows

7. Printer Names

Printer names are taken directly from Windows.

For easier management, it is useful to give printers clear names in Windows, for example:

  • Warehouse A4
  • Office Laser Printer
  • Kitchen 80mm
  • Packing Station
  • Dispatch Printer

This makes printer selection clearer inside Deviking Order Autoprint.

8. Multiple Printers on One Device

One Device can report several printers at the same time.

Different Print Rules can use different printers from the same Windows computer.

For example:

Warehouse PC

  • A4 Packing Printer
  • 80mm Thermal Printer
  • Label Printer

Each printer can be used independently.

9. Printer Assignments in Print Rules

When configuring a Print Rule, you select:

Device → Printer

This ensures the print job is sent to the correct Windows computer and the correct printer.

If two Devices have printers with the same Windows printer name, they are still treated as separate destinations because each printer belongs to a specific Device.

10. Refreshing Printer Information

The Agent regularly reports its current printer list to WooCommerce.

If you have just installed, renamed or removed a printer, allow a short time for the updated information to appear.

You can also confirm the current printer list directly inside the Deviking Print Agent under:
