Understanding Printer Support

Deviking Order Autoprint works with printers that are installed and available in Windows through the Deviking Print Agent.

The plugin does not communicate directly with printer hardware. Instead, the Print Agent uses the printers already configured on the Windows computer.

1. Supported Printer Types

Deviking Order Autoprint can work with common Windows printers, including:

• USB printers
• Network printers
• Wi-Fi printers
• Laser printers
• Inkjet printers
• A4 printers
• A5 printers
• 80mm thermal printers
• 58mm thermal printers

The key requirement is that the printer is correctly installed in Windows.

2. Windows Is the Printer Layer

The Deviking Print Agent reads the printers available in Windows and reports them to WooCommerce.

The workflow is:

WooCommerce → Deviking Print Agent → Windows Printer

This means printer drivers and hardware configuration are handled by Windows, not by WordPress.

3. Printer Drivers

Before using a printer with Deviking Order Autoprint, make sure:

• The correct printer driver is installed
• Windows can detect the printer
• Windows can print a normal test page
• The printer is not paused or offline

If Windows cannot print to the device, the Agent will not be able to use it reliably.

4. Printers Are Linked to Devices

Each printer belongs to a specific Device.

For example:

Warehouse PC

• HP LaserJet
• 80mm Thermal Printer

Office PC

• Canon A4 Printer

When configuring a Print Rule, you select both:

Device → Printer

This prevents confusion when different computers have printers with similar names.

5. Multiple Printers per Device

One Agent can report several printers from the same Windows computer.

Different Print Rules can use different printers.

For example:

• Packing List → A4 Printer
• Kitchen Ticket → 80mm Thermal Printer
• Delivery Note → Office Printer

6. Multiple Devices

A single WooCommerce store can use printers from multiple Windows computers.

This allows printing workflows to be distributed across:

• Office
• Warehouse
• Kitchen
• Dispatch
• Retail counter

Each Device reports its own printers independently.

7. Printer Availability

The Agent regularly reports whether each printer is available.

A printer may become unavailable because:

• It is powered off
• The USB cable is disconnected
• The network connection is unavailable
• Windows reports the printer as offline
• The printer driver has a problem
• The printer has been removed from Windows

8. Thermal Printer Support

Deviking Order Autoprint supports common thermal paper widths such as:

• 80mm
• 58mm

Thermal-specific settings can include options such as:

• Paper width
• Auto-cut
• RAW ESC/POS mode

These features depend on the capabilities of the printer.

9. Standard Page Printers

Standard document printers can be used for formats such as:

• A4
• A5

These are suitable for:

• Order sheets
• Packing lists
• Delivery notes
• Customer receipts
• Internal order documents

10. No Special Printer Hardware Required

Deviking Order Autoprint does not require proprietary printers.

You can continue using compatible printers already installed in your Windows environment.
