Using Auto-Cut on Thermal Printers
The Auto-Cut option is intended for compatible thermal printers that can automatically cut the paper after a document has finished printing.
This is useful for receipts, kitchen tickets and other thermal print workflows where each job should be separated automatically.
1. Open the Print Rule
In your WordPress dashboard, go to:
Deviking Order Autoprint → Print Rules
Edit the rule that uses the thermal printer.
2. Enable Auto-Cut
Inside the printer settings, enable:
Auto-Cut
This option is relevant only for compatible thermal printers.
3. When Auto-Cut Is Useful
Auto-Cut is useful for:
- Customer receipts
- Kitchen tickets
- Order preparation slips
- Packing slips
- Any workflow where each document should be physically separated
4. Printer Compatibility
Auto-Cut depends on the thermal printer hardware and driver.
The printer must include a cutter and support automatic cutting.
If the printer does not have a cutter, enabling Auto-Cut will not add this capability.
5. Windows Driver Support
Some thermal printer drivers handle cutting directly through the normal Windows printing process.
Others may require compatible printer commands.
If Auto-Cut does not work, check:
- The printer has a built-in cutter
- The correct Windows driver is installed
- Auto-Cut is enabled in the printer driver, if required
- The printer supports the selected print mode
6. Auto-Cut and RAW ESC/POS
On compatible thermal printers, Auto-Cut may also be used together with:
RAW ESC/POS
This can provide more direct control over thermal printer functions.
RAW ESC/POS should only be used with printers that support ESC/POS commands.
7. Different Rules Can Use Different Settings
Auto-Cut is configured per Print Rule.
For example:
Customer Receipt
- 80mm Thermal
- Auto-Cut: Enabled
Kitchen Ticket
- 80mm Thermal
- Auto-Cut: Disabled
This allows different workflows to use the same printer differently.
8. Test Before Using Automatically
After enabling Auto-Cut, run a test print and confirm that:
- The document prints completely
- The paper is cut after the job
- No part of the document is cut too early
- The printer feeds enough paper before cutting
If the cut position is not correct, check the printer driver and thermal printer settings.
